Two locations in Tokyo — choose the one that fits your trip. Reservations are required at both cafes.
Cappiness is a place where humans and capybaras can meet in harmony.
Our name combines “Capybara” and “Happiness” — because we believe these gentle animals bring a special kind of peace that words can’t describe.
Although we call ourselves a “café,” our focus is on meaningful interaction with the animals. To maintain cleanliness, the drink area and the interaction area are separated. We only provide self-service drinks — because what truly matters here is not coffee, but connection.
CAPPINESS is a capybara cafe and interaction experience in Tokyo. Guests spend time with gentle capybaras, feed them, and take photos during a 40-minute session.
Ever seen a café with thousands of Google reviews? Many animal cafés in Japan encourage reviews by giving discounts or free treats. But we do not offer any incentives at CAPPINESS. Every 5-star review comes from guests who truly enjoyed their time with our capybaras.
Real smiles. Real reviews.

Wonderful little spot with three adorable capybaras! It was an incredible experience feeding and patting them up close. We even got to get a cozy with them on the beds. The staff were also very friendly and informative. Overall great experience. Would recommend!

This was an amazing experience. This cafe was VERY clean. The capybaras are washed 3 times a day and they are given long breaks to nap. These are 3 very happy cappys. They are calm and really love belly rubs. The staff is kind, helpful, and have a real love for the animals. 10/10 for sure!

Such a fun experience to meet the Capybaras and play with them! They are so adorable, gentle, and friendly. Staff was very nice too and we had a great time overall. It ended too soon! I could play with them all day! Haha. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in Tokyo!

What a great, intimate experience with the capybaras! The staff were knowledgeable and so sweet. They knew all three of the capybaras on a personal level; what their likes were, their personalities quirks. This showed that they really care about these animals. Facility was clean and included a cup of grass per 3 people to feed them. There was a cute short video to educate you on capybaras as well. I know animal cafes get a lot of controversy but I did not feel guilty with this experience. Entire family loved this experience!

I found this place on TikTok and it did not disappoint! The Capy’s are adorable. The staff is professional and kind - they took their time and explained everything well. They really did everything they could to help you have a great experience and get great pics while respecting the animals. They do require a reservation - so book before you arrive. It was very very worth it. A memory my kids won’t forget!

A highlight of our Japan trip. I’m a very animal orientated person and can assure you these girls are well loved and cared for. The staff were cheery and helpful. I’ve never touched or interacted with a Capybara before and they were gorgeous. Loved a scratch on the back, under the jaw and would roll on their side for a belly scratch. Totally recommend a visit.

This was a really awesome experience. We got to interact, pet, and feed 3 capybaras. One can even do a trick! The staff is very friendly and helpful. There’s also time for staged photos and you get drinks included with your tickets. They are so sweet and the time flies by. I highly recommend if you like capybaras or just want to try something you’ve never done before.
